Panghai and kin

Description

Panghai and panghai-kin (closely-related species).

Roundscale panghai have more even, square-shaped scales, rounder bodies, shorter tails and faces.

Sharpscale/Imperial panghai are more athletic, with thinner, pointier scales.

Tamandua panghai are slender, with slim scales that almost look like quills. They have longer tails (which aids their semi-arboreal lifestyle) and long, pointed ears.

These are all part of the Panghai species, and can freely crossbreed without issues. For a comparison against humans think of it like this: Chinese (roundscale) and Japanese (sharpscale) have similar traits, though there are differences. Foreigners might not be able to tell them apart at first glance. However, Indian (Tamandua) are also asian, but have different enough features to be told apart at a quick glance.

The other three, though, are NOT the same species, but closely-related to panghai. They cannot crossbreed readily, and any offspring would be infertile.

Quillbacks (better name pending) are rather shy, shorter and have long quills that can break off. They also have actual teeth, and a more varied diet!

Smoothscales (better name pending) are active diggers from a fairly specific region of the world. They are friendly and relatively fearless.

Maorong are rarely observed, and prefer isolation. They live in colder climates, and have thick dark fur over their body.

Anthro pangolin: cooler to look at that I expected. (I love the Maorong! Anteaters are great...)
